1st Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K Trail Race
at Purity Spring Resort Nov 27

Madison, NH:  The Madison, NH PTO & Purity Spring Resort present the first annual Madison Thanksgiving Day 5K Cross Country Trail Race & 2 Mile Fitness Walk on Thursday, November 27, 2008; 9:00 A.M. at Purity Spring Resort/King Pine Ski Area, in East Madison, NH.  

This event is a fundraiser for the Madison Parent-Teacher Organization and will feature a rolling technical cross country trail course with some technical footing sections. It will be about 1/2 single track trail and 1/2 dirt road.

The 2 mile fitness walk will take place on easy trails near the running race, perfect for individuals or families of any ability.  The event will also feature a free kids’ “Turkey Trot” fun run for children ages 5 and under at around 10am.  

The Madison PTO is proud to host this event with business sponsors Purity Spring Resort, Chick Packaging, EMS, Green Alternative Energy LLC, Silver Lake Home Center, Silver Lake Inn & Massage, Taylor Chiropractic, Yankee Smokehouse, Gamwell, Caputo & Co. and Total Concept Property Management.  Julie VanDyne, President of Madison PTO states “We want to promote healthy families & fitness!  We hope that many local residents and holiday visitors will take advantage of this fun event to come out as individuals or as a family and run or walk on the beautiful wooded grounds of Purity Spring Resort as a way to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday weekend!”  

Registration fee for the 5K is $10.00 before Nov 20, 2008; Post-entry and day of race, $15.00.  Fee for the 2 mile fitness walk will be $5.00 per individual, $15.00 per family.  

Award certificates/gifts to first place in the men's and women's 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over divisions.  The 5K race is a USATF sanctioned event (no strollers or headphones).  These rules do not apply to the 2 mile fitness walk, but be advised the course is over hiking trails that may not be stroller friendly in sections.
